Air filters improve horsepower and mileage of an automotive. They also improve air flow to the engine and emission control system, enabling proper ignition of fuel. The production of air filters has gained momentum because of the high aftermarket demand, as they need to be changed at regular intervals. There are two types of automotive air filters: cabin type and intake air filters.

For instance, the Euro emission standards formulated by the European Union, Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFÉ) standards formulated by the US, and the Japanese new long-term emission standards are some of the existing emission standards being implemented. Moreover, the US, European Union countries, and China are focusing on going green by reducing the carbon emissions significantly. This will result in a reduction of carbon emissions, which in turn, will propel growth in the global automotive air filter market during the forecast period.

The multi-filtration system has a larger design, which can intercept pollen, particulates, and active charcoal. This helps in reducing the contaminants that adversely impact the health of drivers. OEMs, such as Volvo, had launched the multi-air filtration system with an aim to eliminate hazardous fine dust particles from entering the car. The filtration system has a sensor, which monitors the noxious substance in the air. If the outside air is not fit for breathing and contains a toxic substance, then the vents attached to the filtration system automatically gets closed and does not allow the toxic air to enter the vehicle cabin. Also, it eliminates pollutants such as NOx, hydrocarbons, and unpleasant odors from entering the vehicle. These advantages of multi-filtration systems are expected to augment growth in the global automotive air filter market in the coming years.
