Unit prices increased due to the poor weather conditions, as if there is no rain for the grass to grow, milk and its fat content are affected. As a consequence, producing cheese, especially hard cheese, was more expensive. Amidst higher unit prices, volume sales of hard cheese declined, and only started to recover in 2018.
