From mid-2017, France’s Ministry of Health and Solidarity requires a prescription for products containing codeine and dextromethorphan. This has led to most adult combination products to be removed from the OTC market. Nevertheless, some adult combination products can still be sold without prescription such as Actron or Isofebril Vitamin C, a combination of acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Consumers are expected to switch to the latter and to non-combination products for 2018 and moving forward.
